Angeliki Alexiou is a professor of Broadband Communications Systems at the department of Digital Systems, ICT School, University of Piraeus, Greece. She received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1994 and the PhD in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London in 2000. Since May 2009 she has been a faculty member at the Department of Digital Systems, where she conducts research and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Broadband Communications and Advanced Wireless Technologies. Prior to this appointment she was with Bell Laboratories, Wireless Research, Lucent Technologies, (later Alcatel-Lucent, now NOKIA), in Swindon, UK, (January 1999-April 2009). Professor Alexiou is a co-recipient of Bell Labs President’s Gold Award in 2002 for contributions to Bell Labs Layered Space-Time (BLAST) project and the Central Bell Labs Teamwork Award in 2004 for role model teamwork and technical achievements in the IST FITNESS project. Professor Alexiou is the Chair of the Working Group on Radio Communication Technologies and of the Working Group on High Frequencies Radio Technologies of the Wireless World Research Forum. Her current research interests include radio interface for 6G systems, MIMO, THz wireless communication technologies, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, cooperation and coordination for Ultra Dense wireless networks, ‘cell-less’ architectures and machine learning for wireless systems. She is the project coordinator of the H2020 TERRANOVA project (ict-terranova.eu) and the technical manager of H2020 ARIADNE project (ict-ariadne.eu).

Dr. Saeed is a futurist, thought leader, author and a public keynote speaker. He has been into many positions: the founder and former Director General of the Emirates ID Authority, a former member of the scientific advisory committee of the UAE Space Agency, and a former Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on information technology.

Currently, He is the director of the Center for Futures Studies at the University of Dubai. Dr. Saeed is also a member of the Global Future Council of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on AR/VR, and he is on industrial advisory boards of several universities in the UAE.
He co-authored the book Digital Nation: How the UAE is building a future based on tech innovation. He has written several articles and reports that were published at Harvard Business Review Arabia and Dubai Policy Review Journal.

He has been invited to speak at prestigious universities and international platforms including University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, the WEF, the UN, OPEC, and the Abu Dhabi Global World Early Childhood Development (WED Movement).

His interest for the last 5 years covers areas including future foresight, Innovation & digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Data Ethics, Augmented & Virtual Reality and studying impact of emerging technologies on businesses and society.

The title of my talk: How Disruptive Technologies Are Reshaping The Future Of The UAE

Erdal Arıkan has been a member of the facuty at the Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department, Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey since 1987. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, in 1985. His main research interests are in error correction coding. For his work on polar coding, he was awarded the 2010 IEEE Information Theory Society Best Paper Award, the 2013 IEEE W. R. G. Baker Award, the 2018 IEEE Hamming Medal, and the 2019 Shannon Speaker award. He is an IEEE Fellow and a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences.

Tariq Al Awadhi is the Executive Director Spectrum Affairs Department of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Al Awadhi has 26 years of experience in spectrum management. He is Chairman of Arab Spectrum Management Group (ASMG) and he has been selected as Chairman of ITU World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC) 2012. He headed a number of ITU Working Groups and meetings and contributed towards ITU resolutions, recommendations and studies. He represented the UAE in ITU, IMO, ICAO, Arab League, GCC Telecom Bureau and a number of other international and regional forums.


Achievements:

Tariq Al Awadhi played a pivotal role in establishing Spectrum Affairs Department in the TDRA. He pioneered the modern spectrum management concepts in the region and equipped the UAE with one the most advanced and first of its kind fully automated online spectrum management and frequency planning system. He developed UAE 5G Strategic Plan and Beyond (2020-2025) and the UAE ranked 4th Globally in launching and operating the 5G in 2020. This plan serves as a road map to accelerate the pace of introducing the 5G in the country and work with all partners in using this Technology in all sectors in the country (such as health, education, entertainment, infrastructure, military, security, etc.).

He headed the execution of the UAE Digital TV switchover plan and successful vacation of 700 & 800 MHz band from analog TV by 2013 and make this band available for Mobile Broadband services in the UAE.

Abdullah Al Badi, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Future Cities SAOC, is a young Omani visionary entrepreneur who is a highly accomplished & performance-driven professional with 12+ years of career reflecting strong leadership, hands-on experience in project management, process management, business analysis, system study, data modelling etc. He has a high level of work experience in driving government utility projects in Public- Private Partnership models and documented track record of experience in the electrical domain in metering & disco processes, project implementations in manual meter reading, automated meter reading / automated metering infrastructure, meter data management and Smart Energy Metering solutions. The company’s main focus is on handling projects comprising end-to-end smart city solutions, including internet of things connectivity solutions, renewable energy solutions, artificial intelligence, big data solutions, smart metering solutions for power & energy distribution, network operators, and industries etc., verticals.

Dr Mehdi Bennis is a full (tenured) Professor at the Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu, Finland and head of the intelligent connectivity and networks/systems group (ICON). His main research interests are in radio resource management, game theory and distributed AI in 5G/6G networks. He has published more than 200 research papers in international conferences, journals and book chapters. He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards including the 2015 Fred W. Ellersick Prize from the IEEE Communications Society, the 2016 Best Tutorial Prize from the IEEE Communications Society, the 2017 EURASIP Best paper Award for the Journal of Wireless Communications and Networks, the all-University of Oulu award for research, the 2019 IEEE ComSoc Radio Communications Committee Early Achievement Award and the 2020 Clarviate Highly Cited Researcher by the Web of Science. Dr Bennis is an editor of IEEE TCOM and Specialty Chief Editor for Data Science for Communications in the Frontiers in Communications and Networks journal. Dr Bennis is an IEEE Fellow.

Dr. Calin is the Head of the Advanced Mobile Research Center at MediaTek USA, and the MediaTek’s Lead Research Scientist, 6G.

He started his career as a Senior Research Engineer with Motorola Research Labs, Paris, France, before joining Bell Labs in New Jersey. He led the creation and incubation of novel technologies from inception stage to field trials in customer networks and market adoption, and became a Bell Labs Fellow, being recognized ‘for bridging the gap between theory and practice with key innovations at the foundation of the first metro cell products, commercial wireless capacity planning services and network protocols optimization solutions’.

While at Bell Labs, he was affiliated with Lucent Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia, as parent companies. He held a variety of senior leadership positions in research, applied research, and management of research. He was a Sr. Director and the Edge Cloud Innovation Domain Leader at Nokia Mobile Networks’ CTO, with responsibilities for accelerating innovations in 5G, mobile network virtualization, mobile cloud computing, IoT, and verticals for adding business value to networks. He also spearheaded one of the fastest growing businesses with Nokia Enterprise, as the Head of private wireless networks for digital industries in North America. In this role, he leveraged his broad expertise on cutting-edge technologies to bring advanced industrial-grade private wireless solutions to markets. His team focused on the digital transformation of asset-intensive industries, including manufacturing, automotive, logistics, retail, transportation, energy, and utilities.

He holds 37 independent patents awarded in multiple countries and over 100 peer-reviewed publications/tutorials/keynotes. He is the recipient of several major awards, including two Bell Labs President’s Gold Awards, four Bell Labs Teamwork Awards, IEEE WCNC Best Paper Award, and Motorola 3GPP Standard Award.

Dr. Calin is an Editorial Board Member of the IEEE Wireless Communications, and served as an Associate Editor of IEEE Communications Letters and as an Editorial Board Member of Springer’s Wireless Personal Communications Journal. He has been also serving as an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City for over a decade.

He received a M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania and a PhD (High Hons.) in computer systems networking and telecommunications from the Universitė de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.

John M. Cioffi – Illinois-BSEE: 1978, Stanford-PhDEE: 1984; Prof. EE, Stanford, 1986-present, now recalled emeritus. Founder Amati 1991 (1997 purchased by TI); Chairman and CEO ASSIA Inc. Cioffi's specific interests are in the area of high-performance digital transmission. Awards include IEEE AG Bell (2010), Kirchmayer (2014) and Millennium Medals; Member Internet (2014) and Consumer-Electronics (2018) Halls of Fame; Marconi Fellow (2006); Member, US National (2001) and UK Royal (2009) Engineering Academies. Has served over a dozen boards of director PhyTunes (Chairman), Marconi Society (Vice-Chairman), Tinoq, and AltoBeam. 800+ papers and 150+ heavily licensed patents.

Ernesto Damiani is a Full Professor at Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy), Senior Director of the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Institute, and Director of Center for Cyber Physical Systems (C2PS) within Khalifa University (UAE). He is the leader of the Big Data area at Etisalat British Telecom Innovation Center (EBTIC), and President of the Consortium of Italian Computer Science Universities (CINI). He is also part of the ENISA Ad-Hoc Working Group on Artificial Intelligence Cybersecurity. Ernesto's areas of interest include cyber-physical systems, Big Data Analytics, Edge/Cloud security and performance, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.  Ernesto Damiani has pioneered model-driven data analytics. He has authored more than 670 Scopus-indexed publications and several patents. Ernesto has been a recipient of the Research and Innovation Award from the IEEE Technical Committee on Homeland Security , of the Stephen Yau Award from the Service Society, of the Outstanding contributions Award from IFIP TC2, of the Chester-Sall Award from IEEE IES, of the IEEE TCHS Research and Innovation Award, and of a doctorate honoris causa from INSA – Lyon (France) for his contribution to Big Data teaching and research.

Mathias Fink is the George Charpak Professor at the Ecole Superieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris (ESPCI Paris) where he founded In 1990 the Laboratory “Ondes et Acoustique” that became in 2009 the Langevin Institute. He is member of the French Academy of Science and of the National Academy of Technologies of France. In 2008, he was elected at the College de France on the Chair of Technological Innovation. He has received several scientific awards as the CNRS Medal of innovation, the Helmholtz-Rayleigh Award of the Acoustical Society of America, the Rayleigh Award of the IEEE Ultrasonics Society and the Edwin H. Land Medal of the Optical Society of America Mathias Fink’s area of research is concerned with the propagation of waves in complex media and the development of numerous instruments based on this basic research. His current research interests include wave control in complex media, time-reversal in physics, metamaterials, telecommunications, super-resolution, medical ultrasonic imaging, multiwave imaging. 7 start-up companies with more than 400 employees have been created from his research (Echosens, Sensitive Object, Supersonic Imagine, Time Reversal Communications, CardiaWave, Greenerwave, Austral DX).

Deniz Gündüz received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from METU, Turkey in 2002, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from NYU Tandon School of Engineering (formerly Polytechnic University) in 2004 and 2007, respectively. After his PhD, he served as a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University, as a consulting assistant professor at Stanford University, and as a research associate at CTTC in Spain. ln Sep. 2012, he joined the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Imperial College London, UK, where he is currently a Professor of Information Processing, and serves as the deputy head of the Intelligent Systems and Networks Group. He is also a part-time faculty member at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, and has held visiting positions at University of Padova (2018-2020) and Princeton University (2009-2012). His research interests lie in the areas of communications and information theory, machine learning, and privacy. Dr. Gündüz is a Fellow of the IEEE, and a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Information Theory Society (2020-22). He is an Area Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, IEEE Transactions on Communications, and the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC) - Special Series on Machine Learning in Communications and Networks. He also serves as an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. He is the recipient of the IEEE Communications Society - Communication Theory Technical Committee (CTTC) Early Achievement Award in 2017, Starting (2016) and Consolidator (2022) Grants of the European Research Council (ERC), and several best paper awards.

He led Engineering and Technology, Production Operations,Global Supply Chain, Program Management, and Logistics and Sustainment, while managing more than 72,000 people working on over 4,000 programs. He also led the Advanced Technology Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a profit and loss (P&L) center focused on generation-after-next technologies.

Previously, Dr. Johnson was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc, where he developed business strategies, implementation plans, and executive-level metrics to refine the company’s strategic direction and vision. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager at SAIC, a premier Fortune 500® technology integrator and leader of US digital transformation efforts. In this role, he turned around and realigned four entities within the company.

Dr. Johnson holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Ohio, USA. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA. He is a Full Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, and a Fellow of the International Society for Optical Engineering and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Doohwan Lee received a B.S. (Hons.) and completed an M.S. course in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea, in 2004 and 2006. He received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and information systems from the University of Tokyo in 2009. He is currently a distinguished researcher at NTT Network Innovation Laboratories. He has been with NTT Network Innovation Laboratories since 2009. From 2012 to 2014, he was a full-time lecturer at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo. From 2016 to 2018, he was a part-time lecturer at Kanagawa University. His research interests include 6G wireless communications, software/cognitive radio, signal processing, and OAM multiplexing. He received the Best Paper Award and Best Technical Exhibition Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) Software Radio in 2011, the IEICE Communications Society Excellent Paper Award in 2012, the IEICE SRW (Short Range Wireless Communications) Young Researcher’s Award in 2016, the Best Technical Exhibition Award from SmartCom 2014, the Best Paper Award from SmartCom 2016, and the Best Paper Award and Special Technical Award in Smart Radio from IEICE Smart Radio in 2017. He served as a General Co-Chair in the IEEE ICC 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 Workshops on Orbital Angular Momentum Transmission (OAMT) and as a Workshop Co-Chair in the IEEE GLOBECOM 2019 Workshop on High Capacity Point-to-Point Wireless Communications (HCPtP) and GLOBECOM 2020 and 2022 Workshops on High Capacity Wireless Communications (HCWC). He is a senior member of IEEE and IEICE.

LEE, JUNHWAN received a Ph.D. degree in Information & Computer Science from Keio University, Yokohama, Japan in 2009. He was a project research associate at Keio University from 2005 to 2006. He has been a Section Leader of Wireless Transmission Research Section in ETRI, Daejeon, Korea from 2016 till 2017. Currently, he is a project leader in ETRI, and a vice chair of Global Strategy Committee of 5G Forum, Korea. He also has experienced global collaborative projects like KR-EU, KR-JP, KR-CN, KR-FI. His recent research topics are in digital & wireless communication system in particular for physical layer issues relevant to millimeter-wave(mmWave)/terahertz(THz) based Transmission Schemes.

Renato Lombardi is Head of Huawei Italy Research Center, Vice President of Huawei’s Microwave Product Line. In these roles, he oversees the research and development of microwave / millimeter-wave technologies for wireless communications and the implementation of innovative mobile broadband backhauling solutions all over the world.

Renato Lombardi joined Huawei in 2008, founding the Huawei Research Center in Milan, Italy. In 2011, he was awarded the title of Fellow of Huawei.

Renato has more than 30 years of experience in the microwave and millimeter-wave industry. He previously led the Siemens Microwave Business and Product Management and then appointed Head of Research and Development.

In 2015 Renato Lombardi has been elected Chairman of the ETSI Industry Study Group mWT (millimeter-Wave Transmission).

Renato Lombardi graduated from the Politecnico of Milano, the largest and most prestigious technical University in Italy with a Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering.

Dr. Baker Mohammad is the director of System on Chip center and professor of EECS at Khalifa University. Dr. Mohammad is a senior member of IEEE and a member of Mohammed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists. Prior to joining Khalifa University, he was a Senior Staff Engineer/Manager at Qualcomm, Austin, Tx, USA, for 6-years, where he was engaged in designing high performance and low-power DSP processors used for communication and multi-media application. Before joining Qualcomm, he worked for 10 years at Intel Corporation on a wide range of microprocessors design from high performance, server chips > 100Watt (IA-64), to mobile embedded processor low power sub 1 watt (xscale). He has over 16 years of industrial experience in microprocessor design, emphasizing memory, low power circuit, and physical design. Baker earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008, his M.S. degree from Arizona State University, Tempe, and BS degree from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, all in ECE. His research interests include VLSI, power-efficient computing, embedded memory and in-memory computing, nueromorphic computing, emerging technology such as Memristor, STTRAM, hardware accelerators for Cyber-Physical System and AI. He is also engaged in a microwatt range computing platform for wearable electronics and WSN focusing on energy harvesting, power management, and power conversion, including efficient dc/dc, ac/dc converters.

Baker authored/co-authored over 200 referred journals and conference proceedings, >3 books, >18 US patents, multiple invited seminars/panelists, and the presenter of >3 conference tutorials, including one tutorial on Energy harvesting and Power management for WSN at the 2015 (ISCAS). Baker is an associate editor for IEEE Access, IEEE Transaction on VLSI (TVLSI), and Scientific Reports journals. Dr Mohammad participates in many technical committees at IEEE conferences and reviews for TVLSI, IEEE Circuits and Systems journals. He has received several awards, including the KUSTAR staff excellence award in intellectual property creation, IEEE TVLSI best paper award, 2016 IEEE MWSCAS Myrill B. Reed best paper award, Qualcomm Qstar award for excellence on performance and leadership. SRC Techon best session papers for 2016 and 2017. 2009 Best paper award for Qualcomm Qtech conference and Intel Involve in the community award for volunteer and impact on the community

Gerhard P. Fettweis, IEEE F’09, earned a Ph.D. under H. Meyr at RWTH Aachen in 1990. After a postdoc at IBM Research, San Jose, he joined TCSI, Berkeley, USA. Since 1994 he is Vodafone Chair Professor at TU Dresden, Germany. Since 2018 he additionally heads the new Barkhausen Institute. 2019 he was elected into the DFG Senate (German Research Foundation). He researches wireless transmission and chip design, coordinates 5G++Lab Germany, spun-out 17 tech and 3 non-tech startups, and is member of the German Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina), and German Academy of Engineering (acatech). Gerhard is a WWRF Fellow.

Petar Popovski is a Professor at Aalborg University, where he heads the section on Connectivity and a Visiting Excellence Chair at the University of Bremen. He received his Dipl.-Ing and M. Sc. degrees in communication engineering from the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje and the Ph.D. degree from Aalborg University in 2005. He is a Fellof of the IEEE. He is currently an Editor-in-Chief of IEEEE JOURNAL ON SELECTED AREAS IN COMMUNICATIONS. His research interests are in the area of wireless communication and communication theory. He authored the book "Wireless Connectivity: An Intuitive and Fundamental Guide", published by Wiley in 2020.

Tony Q. S. Quek received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, respectively. At MIT, he earned the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Currently, he is the Cheng Tsang Man Chair Professor with Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He also serves as the Head of ISTD Pillar, Sector Lead for SUTD AI Program, Director of Future Communications R&D Programme, and the Deputy Director of SUTD-ZJU IDEA. His current research topics include wireless communications and networking, 6G, network intelligence, URLLC, wireless security, and IoT.

Dr. Quek has been actively involved in organizing and chairing sessions and has served as a TPC member in numerous international conferences. He is currently serving as an Area Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications as well as an elected member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society SPCOM Technical Committee. He was an Executive Editorial Committee Member of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, and an Editor of the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. He is a co-author of a few books published by Cambridge University Press.

Dr. Quek received the 2008 Philip Yeo Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Research, the 2012 IEEE William R. Bennett Prize, the 2016 IEEE Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award, the 2017 CTTC Early Achievement Award, the 2017 IEEE ComSoc AP Outstanding Paper Award, the 2020 IEEE Communications Society Young Author Best Paper Award, the 2020 IEEE Stephen O. Rice Prize, the 2020 Nokia Visiting Professor, and the 2016-2020 Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher. He is a Fellow of IEEE.

Walid Saad received his Ph.D degree from the University of Oslo in 2010. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, where he leads the Network sciEnce, Wireless, and Security (NEWS) laboratory. His research interests include wireless networks (5G/6G/beyond), machine learning, game theory, security, unmanned aerial vehicles, semantic communications) cyber-physical systems, and network science. Dr. Saad is a Fellow of the IEEE. He is also the recipient of the NSF CAREER award in 2013, the AFOSR summer faculty fellowship in 2014, and the Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in 2015. He was the author/co-author of eleven conference best paper awards at WiOpt in 2009, ICIMP in 2010, IEEE WCNC in 2012, IEEE PIMRC in 2015, IEEE SmartGridComm in 2015, EuCNC in 2017, IEEE GLOBECOM in 2018, IFIP NTMS in 2019, IEEE ICC in 2020 and 2022, and IEEE GLOBECOM in 2020. He is the recipient of the 2015 and 2022 Fred W. Ellersick Prize from the IEEE Communications Society, of the 2017 IEEE ComSoc Best Young Professional in Academia award, of the 2018 IEEE ComSoc Radio Communications Committee Early Achievement Award, and of the 2019 IEEE ComSoc Communication Theory Technical Committee. He received the Dean award for Research Excellence from Virginia Tech in 2019. He was also an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in 2019-2020. He currently serves as an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and the IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking. He is an Area Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, an Associate Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC) – Special issue on Machine Learning for Communication Networks, and an Editor-at-Large for the IEEE Transactions on Communications. Prof. Panagiotis Sarigiannidis is the Director of the ITHACA lab (https://ithaca.ece.uowm.gr/), co-founder of the 1st spin-off of the University of Western Macedonia: MetaMind Innovations P.C. (https://metamind.gr), and Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece. He received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2001 and 2007, respectively. He has published over 260 papers in international journals, conferences and book chapters, including IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Internet of Things, IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine, IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Access, and Computer Networks. He received 5 best paper awards. He has been involved in several national, European and international projects. He is currently the project coordinator of three H2020 projects, namely a) H2020-DS-SC7-2017 (DS-07-2017), SPEAR: Secure and PrivatE smArt gRid, b) H2020-LC-SC3-EE-2020-1 (LC-SC3-EC-4-2020), EVIDENT: bEhaVioral Insgihts anD Effective eNergy policy acTions, and c) H2020-ICT-2020-1 (ICT-56-2020), TERMINET: nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT, while he coordinates the Operational Program MARS: sMart fArming with dRoneS (Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation) and the Erasmus+ KA2 ARRANGE-ICT: SmartROOT: Smart faRming innOvatiOn Training. He also serves as a principal investigator in the H2020-SU-DS-2018 (SU-DS04-2018), SDN-microSENSE: SDN-microgrid reSilient Electrical eNergy SystEm and in three Erasmus+ KA2: a) ARRANGE-ICT: pArtneRship foR AddressiNG mEgatrends in ICT, b) JAUNTY: Joint undergAduate coUrses for smart eNergy managemenT sYstems, and c) STRONG: advanced firST RespONders traininG (Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices). His research interests include telecommunication networks, internet of things and network security. He is an IEEE member and participates in the Editorial Boards of various journals.

Assistant Professor in the Dpt. of Computer Science Information Systems, BITS-Pilani, India. Holds a PhD from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain and has worked for a few years as a post-doctoral researcher AnsuR Tech., Oslo, Norway before current employment as Assistant professor. Leading several ongoing RD projects including MASTIC (funded by Axiado, USA), MUT-DROCO (funded by SERB, Govt. of India) and NANCY (funded by TCS, India). He was also a work package leader for two European Space Agency (ESA) funded projects: SatNetCode and HENCSAT, along with a work package member in European H2020 funded project Geo-Vision. He was a member of European COST action IC1104 from 2013-2016 and worked on the project funded by MITACS, Canada in 2008. He is associated with IEEE INGR Satellite group since its inception in 2019, and leading group activities on satellite roadmap on machine learning and artificial intelligence. His primary research focus is on the design and implementation of reliable and robust data-transfer and data-offloading protocols for Non-terrestrial networks.

CTO, Wireless Network, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.

Dr. Wen Tong is the CTO, Huawei Wireless. He is the head of Huawei wireless research. In 2011, Dr. Tong was appointed the Head of Communications Technologies Labs of Huawei, currently, he is the Huawei 5G chief scientist and led Huawei’s 10-year-long 5G wireless technologies research and development.

Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Dr. Tong was the Nortel Fellow and head of the Network Technology Labs at Nortel. He joined the Wireless Technology Labs at Bell Northern Research in 1995 in Canada.

Dr. Tong is the industry recognized leader in invention of advanced wireless technologies, Dr. Tong was elected as a Huawei Fellow and an IEEE Fellow. He was the recipient of IEEE Communications Society Industry Innovation Award in 2014, and IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Industry Leader Award for “pioneering technical contributions and leadership in the mobile communications industry and innovation in 5G mobile communications technology” in 2018. He is also the recipient of R.A. Fessenden Medal. For the past three decades, he had pioneered fundamental technologies from 1G to 5G wireless with more than 530 awarded US patents.

Dr. Tong is a Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, and he serves as Board of Director of Wi-Fi Alliance.

Mikko Uusitalo is Head of Research Department Radio Systems Research Finland at Nokia Bell Labs Finland. Mikko is leading the European 6G Flagship project Hexa-X. He obtained a M.Sc. (Eng.) and Dr.Tech. in 1993 and 1997 and a B.Sc. (Economics) in 2003, all from predecessors of Aalto University. Mikko has been at Nokia since 2000 with various roles, including Principal Researcher and Head of International Cooperation at Nokia Research. Mikko is a founding member of the CELTIC EUREKA and WWRF, the latter one he chaired for 2004-2006. Mikko is a WWRF Fellow. Mikko has more than 80 granted patents or patent families and roughly same amount in the application phase. H-index is 36 and i10-index 83.

Dr. Peiying Zhu, Senior Vice President of Wireless Research, is a Huawei Fellow, IEEE Fellow and Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering. She is currently leading 5G and beyond wireless research and standardization in Huawei. The focus of her research is advanced radio access technologies. She is actively involved in 3GPP and IEEE 802 standards development. She has been regularly giving talks and panel discussions on 5G/B5G vision and enabling technologies. She led the team to contribute significantly to 5G technologies and standardization. She served as the guest editor for IEEE Signal processing magazine special issue on the 5G revolution and IEEE JSAC on Deployment Issues and Performance Challenges for 5G.

Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Peiying was a Nortel Fellow and Director of Advanced Wireless Access Technology in the Nortel Wireless Technology Lab. She led the team and pioneered research and prototyping on MIMO-OFDM and Multi-hop relay. Many of these technologies developed by the team have been adopted into LTE standards and 4G products. Dr. Zhu has more than 200 granted patents.
